She is gearing up to walk away from the cobbles after seven years this summer. 

And Catherine Tyldesley admitted emotions are running high ahead of her upcoming Coronation Street departure as she discussed her future plans on Monday's installment of Lorraine. 

The actress, 34, will bid the soap goodbye over the coming weeks to pursue her dream of travelling the world with her husband Tom Pitford and their son Alfie, three.

'I'm really emotional about it,' she said of her exit. 'It's absolutely flown, your life goes into fast forward on Corrie.'

Asked why she felt it time to leave the show, which has made her the subject of many explosive story lines over the years, she confessed: 'I've been there seven years, so I just felt it's time for a change.'

The Manchester native will also marry her hopes of seeing more of the world and more of her family by travelling the globe with her loved ones later this year.

Revealing her post-Corrie plans, she dished: 'A little a bit of travelling with my family before I start some new projects.

'My little boy is three so he'll get to see a bit of more of Mummy. Family time, some new projects, I'm really excited.' 

While Catherine's exit story line has been kept under wraps, the star revealed that bosses are leaving the door open for her and won't be killing off her character Eva Price.

The interview came after Catherine burst into tears when co-star Simon Gregson asked about her impending exit during a hilarious Instagram clip. 

The star weeped with despair after a shirtless Simon asked her about the impending exit, branding her a 'fg actress' in the shirtless scene.  

Meanwhile, Catherine looked stunning for her guest appearance on today's Lorraine, wowing in a feminine, polka dot shirt and skirt combination.
